Waterfront Walks | Brooklyn Bridge Park

Join our docents for a free walking tour to learn about the history of the Brooklyn waterfront, Brooklyn Bridge Park’s sustainable design and ecology, and how the Park came to life! Tours last roughly 60-90 minutes, and start from the entrance of Pier 1 and finish near Pier 3. Waterfront Walks take place twice monthly on Sundays (10:30 AM) and Tuesdays (6:30 PM May-August and 6:00 PM in September-October). View all upcoming dates here. Advance registration is required. Sunday Family Games on car-free Washington Street are back for the season and a great way to play, meet neighbors and enjoy an epic view! Free Legos, crafts and a rotating roster of activities for kiddos aged 1 to 6 every Sunday from 11am to 1pm until the end of June and then again in September and October (weather permitting). Curated by Team DUMBO x Brooklyn Bridge Parents and supported by Leaf Medical & Leaf Dental in DUMBO.

In collaboration with the organizations Black AF In STEM and NYC Bird Alliance, join the NYS Parks’ New York City team in celebrating Black Birders Week 2025! Let’s support budding Black birders, expert Black birders, and all birders and wanna be birders in between!
All programs are free and materials are provided. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade | Bay Ridge

A Brooklyn tradition since 1867, the Brooklyn Memorial Day Parade is considered to be the oldest continuously run Memorial Day parade in a large city in the nation. Veterans, civic groups, schools, and marching bands parade along 3rd Avenue toward the Verrazzano Bridge ending with a service honoring Veterans.

Join Prospect Park Alliance on Memorial Day for family-friendly nature education programs at Prospect Park Audubon Center and the Prospect Park Carousel.
- Discovery Pack | 12-3pm | Explore nature on your own with Discovery Packs, backpacks filled with nature activities and exploration tools that are perfect for families and kids who want to interact with the park in a whole new way!
- Family Bird Walk | 3-4pm | Prospect Park is a stopping point for hundreds of bird species each year! Join us as we search for these amazing creatures and other nature around the park. Binoculars and bird guides are provided. This program leaves the Audubon Center promptly at 3 pm.
- Carousel Rides | 12–5 pm | Children’s Corner, $3 per ride, $13 for a book of 5 tickets. Celebrate Memorial Day with a ride on Prospect Park’s beloved 1912 Carousel.

Memorial Day Concert at Green-Wood Cemetery | South Slope

Green-Wood’s cherished Memorial Day concert is back for its 25th year, and it’s sure to be a celebration you won’t want to miss! Grab a blanket, pack a picnic, and bring your friends to enjoy this beloved tradition that marks the unofficial start of summer. This year, we welcome back the talented musicians of the ISO Symphonic Band at Third Street, led by music director Paul Corn and guest conductor Brian P. Worsdale. The concert will feature stirring works that honor those who have served in the armed forces, while also spotlighting music by some of Green-Wood’s own permanent residents, including James Weldon Johnson, Fred Ebb, and Leonard Bernstein. Plus, enjoy a selection of contemporary pieces by a diverse range of composers. It’s a perfect way to commemorate the past while celebrating the beauty of music and community! Free, with a suggested donation of $10 per person registered. Donations help support Green-Wood’s free and low cost programs throughout the year.
