Things to do for tweens & teens in Brooklyn this weekend (9/26-9/27)

Tweens and teens have plenty to do in Brooklyn this weekend, from climate workshops on Governors Island and a book event about a tween-witch on Friday, to the Brooklyn Nets’ Practice in the Park in Bed-Stuy, a classic car show in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and an indie comics fest in Flatbush on Saturday. On Sunday, head to DUMBO for Pokémon trading, or play pickleball on Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights!

Power Down & Get Outside | Governors Island

Take the ferry to Governors Island for a day of fun and free out­door activ­i­ties during Climate Week NYC. Celebrate the Island’s land­scapes, his­to­ry, and future,  as a mod­el for cli­mate solu­tions in cities around the world. Highlights include workshops on Pop-Up Cooling Shade, a hands-on session with climate scientist Kate Marvel, a documentary screening, a tour of GrowNYC’s teaching garden, a guided Climate Tech Crawl showcasing new innovations. Wheels of NY is returning to the Brooklyn Navy Yard with their fall classic car show. Expect 150 curated classic cars, an apparel marketplace (Icona Club + more) and a kids zone by Candy Lab Toys. The DJ lineup includes Showcase, Moochie, Dylan Ali, Dennis Free, and Statik Selektah, alongside food from Leon’s Bagels, Davey’s Ice Cream, and a full bar by Honey’s. treats and tastings from our sponsors: Bulleit Whiskey and Topo Chico.

Brooklyn Nets Annual Practice in the Park at Potomac Playground | Bed-Stuy

The Brooklyn Nets will return to Brooklyn’s Potomac Playground in Bed-Stuy for their annual Practice in the Park, where fans can watch the Nets take the court for drills as they prepare for the upcoming season. Fans can attend Practice in the Park by claiming complimentary tickets here. The free community event will also include Gersh Park vs. Zone 6 Park basketball showdown, a celebrity game featuring local influencers, and a Brooklyn Basketball combine with skill stations for fans of all ages. Guests can also explore a Vendor Village with local businesses, artists, family activities, games, and giveaways.
