Free kid-friendly events this week in Brooklyn (11/17-11/23)

Brooklyn is packed with kid-friendly fun this week, with events for all ages—from concerts and story times to nature activities and tween and teen programs. Highlights include the Danish Christmas Fair in Brooklyn Heights, Flex Olympics at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Beam Camp’s Try-It Day in Red Hook, and a Thanksgiving performance by Suzi Shelton and Little Miss Ann at Time Out Market in DUMBO. You’ll also find more live music from Moozika!, Schoolhouse Rock Live!, and Olivia Patiño.

Explore some of the museum’s most-loved exhibits, including toddler-favorite Totally Tots, the miniature shops of World Brooklyn, our NEST kids’ climber, and more. Then check out ColorLab, the family art studio located on the 2nd floor of the Museum, where artists of all ages can explore, make, and celebrate art. Plus, say hello to BCM’s live animals at Animal Encounters, which repeats twice, first from 3:00-3:20pm and again from 3:45-4:05 pm. It’s recommended that you reserve your tickets in advance online. This will be a casual ride where we will make multiple stops to observe and discuss the prominent natural and historical features. We will end at Machate Circle in Prospect Park. Trails, Sails, and Rails: The Malbone Street Wreck | Prospect Park

Join the Urban Park Rangers for a dive into some Brooklyn history. Learn about some of the history of New York’s defunct rail lines, including trolley lines and elevated trains. Learn about Brooklyn’s greatest transit tragedy and the reason that Brooklyn no longer has a Malbone Street.
