MONDAY
Education Pop-Ups | Brooklyn Bridge Park

Brooklyn Bridge Park is bringing the Education Center outside this summer! Find their educators hosting two pop-ups in the Park: Education Station & Art-Making Station. The Education station will take place at Pier 6, next to the Water Lab, Monday-Wednesday 9:30am-12:30pm & Thursday-Friday 3:00-6:00 pm, with hands-on learning opportunities for kids of all ages! Join to learn about new Park-related subjects each week: oysters, flowers, algae, the Brooklyn Bridge and more! Each lesson involves creating something you can take home with you. The Art-Making Station will take place at Pier 1, across from the pavilion; Sundays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, 9:30am-12:30pm and Mondays, 2:00-5:00pm. In their first year running an art making station in the Park, they will be doing different activities each week that focus on Woody de Othello’s sculptures. Learn how to work with clay, sketch, and use everyday materials, on view until March 2027.

Whether you know a bit of Spanish already or are completely new to the language, this is the perfect way to celebrate diversity and embrace Latin American cultures! The session is led in English and Spanish and all are welcome. City of Water Day: Water and Fireflies at the Greenway Botanical Garden | Navy Yard

Explore the Greenway Botanical Garden while learning how water supports life here including many fireflies on this gardener-led walk. City of Water Day celebrates access to the water. The walk will cover how water conservation is tied to plantings along waterfront Greenways and learn about the plant and insect life water supports. Specifically for this night event, participants will learn about fireflies, observe them in the native wildflower meadow and learn how native plants and water support these bioluminescent insects in the stages of their lifecycle. Participants will observe fireflies in the landscape after dark and learn traits of the insect genus and species with a gardener-led talk and catch-and-release observation on site. Build skills in making observations in natural spaces.
