With the new statewide order in place to wear a face mask when social distancing is not possible, we have prepared an overview of Brooklynites and New Yorkers who are making masks for grown-ups and kids locally. You have to wear a mask or some other face covering when you are food shopping, in the subway, on a bus and in other situations when close to other people. Here are a few tips to help ensure you are using your mask or face covering properly and are well protected:
- Before putting on a mask, clean your hands with alcohol-based hand sanitizer or soap and water
- Cover your mouth and nose with the mask, making sure there are no gaps
- Avoid touching your mask while wearing it
Note: NONE of the below masks are medical masks.

Washable, reusable face masks made from two layers of tightly woven 100% cotton fabric. There is a flexible wire in the nose bridge to help with fit, and a pocket in between the fabric layers to put an additional filter if you choose to. (Filter not included). The fabric ties wrap around the back of the head and then tie behind the neck for a comfortable, adjustable, and secure fit.
