Dumbo’s annual block party and fundraiser “DUMBO Drop” will happen virtually this year. While there won’t be elephants flying down on Washington Street, you can still support the local schools by buying elephants and entering The Drop. There are fantastic prizes – including $2000 to spend anywhere in the neighborhood + a 1 Hotel Staycation – and a delightful new Light-Up Elephant keepsake for every entry. The DUMBO BID will also be hosting “physically distanced” in person events throughout the weekend – Friday, 10/16 through Sunday, 10/18.
In 2019, PS307 & The Dock Street School used Dumbo Drop funding to buy materials for their art and music programs; purchase MakerBot 3D printers, purchase new soccer jerseys, and even to send students to see a panel of STEM Harvard students. (Re)Discover Dumbo Scavenger Hunt – Saturday, October 17 from 10 am to 5 pm, featuring Dumbo Drop elephants hidden around the neighborhood. Scavenger hunt cards can be picked up that day from Dumbo Business Improvement District staff representatives on Washington Street for Dumbo Drop entrants. Cards are free if you’ve entered the Drop or can be purchased for $20 in person on that day. Winners of the scavenger hunt for elephants will be awarded prizes.
Etsy Art Extravaganza – Sunday, October 18 from 10 am to 5 pm in the Dumbo Archway. Creatively Wild will facilitate souvenir elephant decorating, while a replay of the virtual Dumbo Drop is broadcast. Hour-long reservations to ensure social distancing are required and can be made here.
