Food news – restaurant openings and closings, communal dining and Taylor Swift eating pizza in Brooklyn

Fall is here, and it has brought a slew of restaurant openings including a Greek kitchen and Parisian cafe, plus the arrival of a new communal dining experience bringing neighbors together in our open streets.

Our roundup kicks off with celebrities dining in our neighborhoods! Carroll Gardens residents got a thrill to spot Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce dining at the famed BYOB pizza spot Lucali. While their pizza is more than worth the wait, remember that Lucali is only first-come, first-served, and they start taking names for their waitlist at 4pm daily (closed Tuesdays).

For those who may not want to brave Lucali’s lines, an alternative pizza destination is opening in Carroll Gardens: Nate’s Detroit Pizza has opened at 451 Court Street. This is their first official permanent home, as previously they only served out of a pop-up shop at 220 Atlantic Avenue. They’ll still be selling whole pies to-go on Atlantic Avenue, while the Court Street location will serve slices only. Located between two of Carroll Gardens’ favorite pizzerias, F & F Pizzeria and Baby Luc’s, the owners are welcoming the company, saying: “This is gonna be the Murderer’s Row of Brooklyn Pizza.”
