NYC Ferry rides increase to $4 in September for single rides

Single-ride fares on the NYC Ferry are going up 45% from $2.75 to $4 on September 12, but the City will continue to offer regular riders the old price with new 10-ride packs for $27.50. The $1 bike fee will also be eliminated as of that date to help encourage environmentally sustainable multi-modal transportation. Officials estimate the new pricing structure would generate up to $2 million in extra annual revenue and help reduce public subsidy of the ferry system. The city will introduce also a new Fair Fares-Style NYC Ferry Discount Program which will make the system more equitable for low-income riders, seniors, and people with disabilities.

Eligible New Yorkers will be able to apply for the Ferry Discount Program using the NYC Ferry website or by mailing in an application. Once verified, eligible riders can buy discounted tickets through the NYC Ferry app or at NYC Ferry ticket windows and agents. A discounted one-way ticket price of $1.35 will help to make the ferry accessible to even more New Yorkers, while also helping to diversify NYC Ferry’s ridership.
