Fall in NYC always feels full, school routines, packed weekends, and cooler days that make it easier to get out and explore. Debbie Zolan and Jacquelynn Rossiter of The Zolan Rossiter Team share a few of their favorite spots for eating, staying active, and spending time with family, along with some new places they’ve been enjoying this season.
When you’re in the mood for something sweet or a really good coffee, where do you go?
“We often stop by Hani’s or Librae in the East Village when we’re nearby, either is perfect for a coffee and pastry. And since our listing at 111 Fourth Avenue, 3N is just around the corner, it’s always an easy excuse to pop in. In Brooklyn, we love Caffè De Martini on Vanderbilt, and Vanderbilt Green Market down the street makes fresh juices and smoothies with the friendliest staff. Between the cafés, bakeries, and juice spots along Vanderbilt, there are plenty of great options when you’re in the mood for something quick and delicious.”
What are some neighborhood restaurants that never disappoint?
“For a solid night out, we love Toloache in Midtown, the food is legitimately awesome, especially their creative ceviche and tacos, and the bar seating is perfect for stopping by on a whim. If we’re keeping it more low-key, Ippudo V in DUMBO is always fun, a sleek, light-filled plant-based ramen spot offering inventive bowls, smoothies, and vegan sushi. And once in a while we’ll splurge on omakase at Kinjo, it’s a treat.”
How do you like to stay active when the weather cools down?
“We stay active in different ways. Jackie loves dancing and teaches at Salsa Salsa in Brooklyn, while Debbie works with a personal trainer, lifts weights and goes on long walks with her new weighted vest. She also plays tennis whenever she can. We each have our own routine which we prioritize since it keeps us sane and fit.”
What’s a favorite fall tradition or local event you look forward to every year?
“The US Open is always a highlight for us. It’s so well done, from the marketing to the atmosphere on the beautiful grounds. The competition, the athletes, the food, even the weather, it all comes together and feels like such a celebration of New York. We love how appreciative the players are and the way the audience energy feeds into every match. We also look forward to the NYC Marathon each year. The vibe in the city that day is unmatched, and it’s inspiring to watch.”
Any hidden gems or new spots in NYC you think more families should know about?
“Vinegar Hill feels like a hidden corner of the city, with its Belgian-block streets and historic buildings right next to DUMBO. Walking through the neighborhood really feels like stepping back in time, and it’s one of those places not many people think to explore.”
There’s never a shortage of things to do in NYC, especially in the fall. Our days are filled with meeting clients, showing homes, and being on-site for photo shoots, and we mix that with the everyday things we love, grabbing a matcha at a bakery, getting a workout in, or walking through the city’s neighborhoods. We’d love to meet up and show you some of our favorite spots.
