Brooklyn Public Library now offers library lobby service in Brooklyn Heights

BPL’s Center for Brooklyn History at 128 Pierrepont Street is now offering grab-and-go lobby service while the new Brooklyn Heights Library is under construction. CBH is open Monday through Friday, 10 am – 4 pm, for library pickups and returns. How it works:

  • Holds Pickup: You can pick up materials you’ve reserved in advance, and use our self-check machines or the BPL mobile app to check them out. Due to the backlog, you may experience longer wait times for your holds.
  • Returns: You can return materials by dropping them in the bins provided in the lobby. There will be a 4–6 day delay for materials to be checked back into our system, as part of our new COVID-19 protocols for quarantining returned materials. Please note that fines will not accrue.

This location will be in addition to lobby service at the temporary library at Adams Street in DUMBO that is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 am to 3 pm. Here is a map of all Bklyn Public Libraries that are offering lobby service currently.

After a pandemic-related pause, construction is underway at Brooklyn Heights Library, which is expected to open by early fall. At over 26,000 square feet, the library will feature a kids and tweens area and more public space than any other neighborhood branch in Brooklyn. Also by early fall,  Adams Street Library will open in DUMBO. The location sits at the front of Brooklyn Bridge Park, and has stunning views of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and downtown Manhattan.
