Jay Street busway pilot announced for late summer

The New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) is proposing to make Jay Street—between Tillary and Livingston streets—a busway, only buses, trucks and bicycles will be permitted to enter Jay Street from North and South. Signs will direct northbound and southbound passenger vehicles to use alternative routes, and “Bus and Truck Only” pavement markings will be installed. The primary goal of the project is to reduce congestion and improve bus speeds and reliability, benefiting the passengers using seven bus routes to access Downtown Brooklyn from other parts of the borough. This will also improve bicycle and pedestrian safety. Find out more here.

The DOT plans to implement this in late summer from 7 am to 7 pm daily.
