New amenities for families in our neighborhoods July ’25

This month brings several exciting openings, including a new indoor play space in Sheepshead Bay, outdoor additions at Space Club’s Fort Greene and Greenpoint locations, the debut of the Carroll Gardens Pop-Up Library, and an indoor skydiving center in Long Island City. Looking ahead, pickleball is coming soon to the LeFrak Center in Prospect Park and a new club in Red Hook, Space Club is opening their new DUMBO location this fall, and a private family club is in the works in Brooklyn Heights. But first, some news about family-friendly neighborhood spots that are closing this month:
  • The art studio Private Picassos is closing their Park Slope location at 237 5th Avenue in August. They will now be based out of their Clinton Hill location, and they will also offer classes for babies, toddlers, and kids through 5th grade at 390 Social. Celebrate their last day at their Closing Party on Friday, August 22 from 3-7pm. There will be free palette paintings, plus snacks and refreshments.
  • Another spot closing their doors this month is The Wild, an independent baby store in Greenpoint that also offered classes like yoga, music, tummy time, and sensory play, alongside birthing classes, postpartum wellness sessions, lactation support, and more.  They also have a location at Grand Street Healing in Williamsburg, and hope to find a new home in Greenpoint.

Race Track at Space Club | Greenpoint | NOW OPEN

Bounce Mountain & Water Slide at Space Club | Fort Greene | NOW OPEN

Space Club is rolling out new outdoor attractions for kids in Summer 2025. The Fort Greene location recently opened its a rooftop Bounce Mountain (open to all) and is now debuting a Splash Pad, complete with water slides (open to members and summer camp participants from 9am-5pm). Meanwhile, the original Greenpoint location now features a members-only race track. Families interested in membership can inquire at me*****@*******ub.com.

Wonderland Playhouse | Sheepshead Bay | NOW OPEN

Wonderland Playhouse just opened at 3830 Nostrand Avenue in Sheepshead Bay. Children between the ages of  0 – 10 years old will love the ball pit, zipline, dress-up station, Lego & Magna-Tile tables, mini carousel, claw machines, and more. There is open play for $25 for 2 hours. They also host birthday parties and plan on offering Mommy & Me classes soon. Check out their social media for hours and the latest updates!

Greene Playground | Clinton Hill | NOW REOPENED

Greene Playground in Clinton Hill has reopened with new features, including shade, plus a large jungle gym with a roped bridge. The small jungle gym is a great option for little ones, with plenty of tunnels to explore.

Carroll Gardens Pop-Up Library | Carroll Gardens | NOW OPEN

On July 8, the Carroll Gardens Library opened their temporary pop-up location at 250 Baltic Street. Patrons will be able to browse and borrow books, pick up holds, register for library cards, and get help from librarians. Hours will be Mondays and Tuesdays 1-5pm, Thursdays 3-7pm, Fridays 10am-2pm, and closed Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Storytime programming will continue at an off-site location on Wednesdays. Stay tuned for more updates on the return of the 120-year-old main branch next summer. It has been closed since July 2023 for major renovations, with its reopening now delayed until Summer 2026. When it reopens, it will have new elevators, HVAC, lighting, bathrooms, and a dedicated teen space. The temporary branch will close about a month before the permanent location reopens.

Joy Gymnastics | New space at Industry City | NOW OPEN

Joy Gymnastics has moved into a new studio in Industry City that is double the size of their previous space at 1,300 square feet, now with dedicated areas for vault and floor training in addition to their bar and beam areas. Their programming for children ages 1.5 to 15 years will remain the same, offering classes, day and summer camps, open play, birthday parties, and parents’ nights out. New elevators at Bay Ridge–95th Street subway station | Bay Ridge | NOW OPEN

Bay Ridge’s 95th Street Station is now fully ADA accessible for the first time, with two new elevators that opened on July 8. One elevator connects the street level to the mezzanine, another links the mezzanine to the platform. In addition to the elevators, the station also received upgraded staircases, new ADA boarding areas on the platform, and new communications and electrical systems. The station is a stop on the R train, and serves 3,000 riders every day.

iFLY Indoor Skydiving | New location in Long Island City | NOW OPEN

The indoor skydiving facility iFLY will be opening a new location in Long Island City, Queens this July! The experience is recommended for ages 3 and up, and iFLY’s instructors will help you choose a flight experience and then assist with one-on-one flight instruction in their vertical wind tunnel. They will offer STEM field trips, birthday parties, and more private events.

KidSuper Rooftop Football Pitch | Williamsburg | Opening July 31, 2025

A new rooftop soccer field is coming to KidSuper, located atop their headquarters at 158 Roebling Street in Williamsburg. The artist and designer Colm Dillane is the founder of the Brooklyn-based fashion brand, art studio, and creative hub in Williamsburg. Dillane is passionate about soccer, and is launching founding memberships for this new rooftop field that will be available to kids and professionals all year round.

Reopening of LeFrak Center with New Pickleball Facilities | Prospect Park | Opening August 2 & 3, 2025

Following renovations and with new operators in place, Prospect Park’s LeFrak Center is reopening with expanded offerings, including rollerskating, boating, and—for the first time—pickleball, starting the weekend of Saturday, August 2 & Sunday, August 3. The revamped center will also debut a renovated 41-jet splash pad, new restrooms, lighting, and mechanicals. Purslane will run the café (called Duck Island Café & Bar). While rollerskating will continue to be a main attraction, themed skating parties called Dreamland Roller Disco will unfortunately no longer continue. Leonard Library | Williamsburg | Reopening August 5, 2025

Williamsburg’s Leonard Library is set to reopen after two years of renovations that included a new HVAC system and renovations of its historic celling. Located at 81 Devoe Street, the branch will return on August 5 with a reopening celebration.

Slow Burn Ceramics | Gowanus | Opening August 2025

A new ceramics studio is opening in August at 65 15th Street in Gowanus. They will offer handbuilding and wheel classes and workshops for adults, studio memberships, plus weeklong  clay camps for kids ages 8-11. They will also have evening events like BYOB clay events, and will book private parties and classes. Learn more here and see the progress on their studio here!

JETSET Pilates | Boerum Hill | Opening August 2025

JETSET Pilates is launching its first Brooklyn studio this August at 474 Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill. Co-owned by a local husband-and-wife duo, the studio will offer JETSET’s signature 50-minute, full-body workout—combining strength training, cardio, and low-impact Pilates movements on custom reformers. Space Club | New location in DUMBO | Opening September 1, 2025

The popular sensory play space is opening a third location in DUMBO at 50 Gold Street (and Plymouth Street) on September 1, 2025. Get a sneak peek of the progress here! There will bless a massive bead pit (pictured below), a Magna Tile pit, scarf blowing machines, trampolines, a giant 3-level playground with slides, a bedazzling room, multiple party rooms, a cafe, and even a greenhouse on the roof. The Program NYC Youth Basketball Training Facility | Greenpoint | Opening September 2, 2025

The Program is a new state-of-the-art basketball training facility opening September 2, 2025 at 255 Java Street in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Spanning 12,500 square feet, it will feature regulation courts, weight and turf areas, a recovery room, a film room, and more for players ages 6-18. Founded by Griffin Taylor and Jared Effron and backed by supporters including Carmelo Anthony, Sue Bird, Jay-Z, Chris Mullin, Kemba Walker, Miles “Deuce” McBride, OG Anunoby, Precious Achiuwa and more, The Program is dedicated to developing young players through elite coaching and specialized training. Ia’s Learning Tree | New location in Carroll Gardens | Opening September 2025

Ia’s Learning Tree already has various locations in Park Slope, South Slope, and Windsor Terrace, and they will be opening a new daycare center at 53 2nd Street in Carroll Gardens this September. The new center is located in a three-story brownstone, and the daycare will be on the first and second floors, complete with a large, beautiful backyard. Ia’s Learning Tree was founded by mother and daughter educators Ia and Teona, and the family-owned center offers care for infant and toddlers (12 weeks to 3 years), as well as full-day preschool programs for 2 and 3-year-olds. The infant program is capped at just 12 students. Curriculum is Montessori and Dewey-inspired, and extracurricular activities include music, Spanish, and yoga. NY Kids Club | New location in Gowanus/Park Slope | Opening September 2025

NY Kids Club is opening a new school at 204 4th Avenue, on the ground floor of a new development on the border of Park Slope and Gowanus. There will be two big classrooms, a 15-foot rock wall, and a sensory play gym with a trampoline. It will offer NY Preschool, enrichment classes for 2 months up to 8 years, after-school programming with pick-up from other schools in the area, camps, birthday parties, PJ parties, open play, and more! The school will open up in August for tours, events, and sample classes, and they’ll be ready to kick off the school year in September. Save the date for the weekend Friday, August 22 through Sunday, August 24 for free family events including a movie event and PJ party, plus sample classes! And mark your calendar for the Grand Opening on Saturday, September 20, with open play, rock climbing, face painting, a concert, family photos with a professional photographer, art projects, party favors, and more fun for ages 5 months to 8 years.

Kuei Luck Early Childhood Center | Greenpoint | Opening September 2025 

Kuei Luck Early Childhood Center’s new Greenpoint Campus, located at 171 Calyer Street in Greenpoint, is now accepting pre-enrollment for Fall 2025 for children ages 6 months to 5 years. This Mandarin-immersion nursery and preschool embraces a Reggio Emilia-inspired, play-based curriculum designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning in a nurturing, child-centered environment. Brooklyn Basketball Training Center | Downtown Brooklyn | Opening Fall 2025

The Brooklyn Basketball Training Center by the Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty, located just across the street from Barclays Center on Flatbush Avenue, will open its doors this fall. The 19,000 square foot facility will offer after-school and weekend programming, camps, birthday parties, clinics, and much more for kids ages 6 to 14.

Logicus Math School | Park Slope | Opening Fall 2025

Logicus, a K–12 after-school math enrichment program, is opening its second location this fall in Park Slope. Logicus offers small-group classes (up to six students) built around a rigorous, logic-based curriculum inspired by Russian and Singapore math traditions. The program supports students from early elementary through high school, emphasizing problem-solving, number sense, and collaborative learning. Renovation of Athletic Fields at Parade Grounds | Prospect Park | Opening date TBA

Field 9 at Prospect Park’s Parade Grounds are undergoing renovations to replace the turf, improve pathways, and install ADA-accessible drinking fountains. Reopening date to be announced!

Velto Pickleball Club | Red Hook | Opening January 2026

Velto Pickleball Club will opening in January 2026 on the second floor of the Tesla Building at 160 Van Brunt Street in Red Hook, occupying 14,000 square feet with four full-size courts, a half-court, mezzanine lounge, and smoothie bar. The membership-based club is investing over $1 million in high-end finishes to create a destination for local players.

The Beginning Clubhouse | Brooklyn Heights | Opening Summer 2026

A 45,000-square-foot family club with supervised childcare, a work lounge, fitness and spa amenities, and on-site food and drink is coming to Brooklyn Heights in Summer 2026. The Beginning Clubhouse will open its flagship location at 50 Columbia Heights, in a historic seven-story building across from Hillside Dog Park. Dedicated floors will offer supervised childcare, thoughtfully designed play spaces, game rooms, and structured classes. Parents can enjoy an entire work lounge floor—with meeting rooms and a quiet library—plus a full fitness center and spa. There will be an array of dining options: a casual café and lounge, a fine dining restaurant, an adults-only dining room, and a rooftop option with views of the Manhattan skyline and Brooklyn Bridge.
