Pre-K letters have been sent to families with children born in 2014. A record 75 percent of students in New York City were accepted into their first choice school. Families need to accept their offered seat by June 6th.
Chalkbeat has a great list featuring all zoned elementary schools in New York City with Pre-K wait lists this year. Here are the schools in our neighborhoods in Brooklyn in in-zone students wait listed:
- PS 29 in Cobble Hill has 83 kids on the Pre-K wait list this year versus 88 kids list last year
- PS 58 in Carroll Gardens has 73 kids on the Pre-K wait list this year versus 113 kids last year
- PS 9 in Prospect Heights has 36 kids on the Pre-K wait list this year versus none last year
- PS 261 in Boerum Hill has 48 kids on the Pre-K wait list this year versus 44 last year
- PS 20 in Fort Greene has 51 kids on the Pre-K wait list this year versus 51 last year
This list does not included District-wide Pre-K centers i.e. Dock Street and un-zoned schools i.e. PS 133.
PS 307 Magnet school for STEM studies in Vinegar Hill has open spots for Pre-K and will host an open house on Thursday May 31st from 9 am to 10 am. No RSVP needed, just bring photo ID.
