A look inside the pediatric department and ER at NYU Langone Cobble Hill

The brand new NYU Langone medical center brings a 24-hour emergency department to our neighborhood which has been lacking for local families. Children and patients of all ages are being taken care of 24/7 with two emergency specialists on site all times and a pediatric ER specialist on site from 2 to 10 pm daily. Their services are more comprehensive than those offered by urgent care centers, which usually do not have advanced imaging services, cast set-up for fractures or emergency-trained nurses. If a person needs to be admitted to the hospital, their in-house team transports patients for free to the assigned hospital within their network. The center also offers valet parking. Emergency care wait times are posted on the website and updated every 5 minutes here.

Dr. Gilgoff and Dr. Messinger who previously worked at Mount Sinai Medical Center at Cadman Plaza are serving as pediatricians at the new pediatric outpatient department and will be joined by a 3rd doctor in the next months. Their office is open daily from 8.30 am to 5 pm with same day access for pediatric appointments staggered throughout the day and tele-health video visits available. The pediatric team refers patients in-house to the radiology, sports medicine, ophthalmology and podiatry departments if needed.

This new NYU Langone medical center spans 5 clinical floors across 165,000 square feet at 70 Atlantic Avenue. The physician practice includes 19 medical and surgical specialties throughout the new building, which also offers an infusion center and radiology. The center will also house ambulatory surgery, NCI-designated cancer care and doctor’s offices for a wide range of primary care and clinical specialties, including cardiology, gastroenterology, OB/GYN, orthopedics, multiple sclerosis, and more.
