BQE will be milled and repaved starting 7/16

The Department of Transportation (DOT) will repair the BQE’s crumbling roadway surface between Atlantic Avenue and Tillary Street in July to address the noise and vibration produced by its current state of deterioration.  This work is not connected to the major rehabilitation project for which planning recently began.

The highway will be fully closed in the early-morning hours of July 24 and 31. During these periods, traffic will be rerouted onto Atlantic Avenue, Court Street, Cadman Plaza West and Tillary Street.  During other repair periods, at least one lane will remain open.  The rough road surface between milling and repaving will generate noise and dust.

Queens-Bound BQE Repairs: During the week of July 18th, DOT will repair sections of the Queens-bound (eastbound) roadway from Atlantic to Tillary.  Lanes will be closed during early morning hours from Tuesday, July 19th through Saturday, July 23rd.  Lane closures will start at 12:01 AM and will reopen by 5:00 AM.  At least one lane will be open at all times.

Staten Island–Bound Repairs: During the week of July 24th, DOT will similarly repair sections of the Staten Island-bound (westbound) roadway from Atlantic to Tillary.  The highway will be completely closed between 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM onSunday, July 24th and Sunday July 31st from Exit 27 to Exit 29. Traffic agents and signs will guide traffic to the temporary route. During the intervening days, lane closures will be in effect from 12:01 AM to 5:00 AM, but at least one lane will be open to traffic.
