The Brooklyn Historical Society will open its DUMBO outpost in the Empire Stores on May 18th, 2017. The 3,200 square foot museum will be located on the 2nd floor of the Empire Stores.
The opening exhibition will be a temporary photography series of around 50 images capturing Brooklyn’s waterfront and it’s transformation from Greenpoint to Coney Island which will be on display until September.
The permanent exhibition about Brooklyn’s waterfront with a few kid-focused experiences and regular family programs for children 2 to 12 will open in the fall. One element will be a magnet wall where children can build their own Brooklyn neighborhood. Brooklyn Historical Society will also offer school programs at this location.
Opening hours have not been determined yet. Entry will be $10 per person. Families with Cool Culture cards get free access.
