DUMBO’s block party & school fundraiser with flying elephants 9/27

The DUMBO Improvement District will host its third annual Washington Street block party between York and Plymouth Streets on Friday, September 27 from 4 to 9 p.m called the “DUMBO Drop”. The cornerstone events will be spectacles sending thousands of parachuting souvenir elephants onto Washington Street at two times:

6:00 p.m.: Classic #DUMBODROP

7:30 p.m.: New #DISCODROP, featuring illuminated souvenir elephants

Funds raised from the DUMBO Drop support DUMBO’s local public STEAM schools, PS 307 Elementary School and the Dock Street Middle School. Families can enter one or both Dumbo Drop events for a chance to win prizes for the souvenir elephant that most closely reaches the target. Prizes include $1,000 to spend in DUMBO, a private all-you-can-eat ice cream party for up to 20 guests at Oddfellows, and a private rooftop party for 10 at Time Out Market. Purchase elephants for your kids here.

There will be food from neighboring eateries including Juliana’s Pizza & Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, Almar, Brooklyn Roasting, Cecconi’s, Celestine, Front Street Pizza, Melt, Oddfellows, SUGARCANE raw bar grill, Westville, and the Time Out Market. Free kids activities include arts and crafts, virtual reality games, story time, street games and more.

An afterparty will be held in the Dumbo Archway from 8 to 10 p.m.
