Free kid-friendly events in May

Spring is here and so are many free outdoor events in our neighborhood!

Kite Festival in Brooklyn Bridge Park | May 5

The waterfront kite festival will take place at Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park on Saturday, May 5th from 12 to 2.30 pm. Watch your kite soar above the Manhattan skyline and explore the science of flight! This family-friendly festival unites S.T.E.A.M concepts and outdoor adventures! Kids can learn the science of flight through kite-flying and experiments.

AltSchool Brooklyn Heights Maker Day | May 5

Join AltSchool Brooklyn Heights for a fun-filled day of interactive workshops to engage children and parents to learn together as designers and inventors. This event will take place on Saturday, May 5th from 10 am to 12 pm and is designed for students in pre-K through 4th grade. Glass making demonstrations on GlassBarge in Brooklyn Bridge Park | May 17 – 28

GlassBarge—a 30’ x 80’ canal barge equipped with CMoG’s patented all-electric glassmaking equipment—will stop in Brooklyn Bridge Park at the Pier 5 Marina starting May 17, 2018 offering free, public glassmaking demonstrations. GlassBarge will provide daily demonstrations from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m from May 17 to May 28. All demos are approximately 30 minutes long, and reservations are strongly encouraged through free timed tickets. Free tickets here.

Willow Town Spring Street Fair in Brooklyn Heights | May 19

The annual spring fair will take place on Saturday, May 19th from 12 to 5 pm at Willow Place in Brooklyn Heights featuring face painters, bouncy castles, games and more.

Families First’s Spring Carnival | May 19

Pony rides, bounce house, face painting and more on Saturday 5/19 from 10 am to 2 pm on Baltic Street between Court and Clinton Streets. Free!

The ninth annual 4th window concert | May 20

Live and free music at the corner of state and Henry Street with music by the Beatles, Guns n’ Roses, Nirvana, Billy Joel and more on May 20th at 4 pm!
