Our overview of parent & me meet-ups and drop-in classes for new moms, dads, grandparents and caregivers in DUMBO, Brooklyn Heights, Boerum Hill and beyond:

Babies & Books @ Brooklyn Heights Library

Songs, fingerplays, stories and more while meeting other babies and caregivers in the neighborhood!  Ages 0-18 months on Tuesday afternoons. The free program requires online registration up to 24 hours in advance.

New mom meet-up @ Westville DUMBO

New moms casually meet up with babies at Westville on Washington Street on Wednesdays starting at 3 pm.

New mom meet-up @ Pain Quotidien Brooklyn Heights

New moms casually meet up with babies at Pain Quotidien on Montague Street on Mondays from 11 am to 1 pm.

Bring your baby to the movies @ Alamo Cinema Downtown Brooklyn

Alamo for All is a movie program for young families and guests with special needs at the new City Point Mall in Downtown Brooklyn.  All shows starting before 2 pm on Tuesdays follow Alamo for All rules. More info here.

Drop-in play @ The Great Room

Drop-in play for care givers with pre-crawlers take place various times a week for $15. The Great Room is located at 194 Columbia Street in the Columbia Waterfront District. More info and schedule here.

Moms Meet-Up @ Families First Brooklyn

Come join other fellow moms to gather and share triumphs, goals, concerns, joy, frustrations, ask for advice and share advice all in a nurturing and supportive environment. Fridays at 10:30 am at Families First Brooklyn at 250 Baltic Street. $10 suggested donation. You do not have to be a Families First Member to participate, [email protected] for more information.

Parents’ Schmooze @ Brooklyn Heights Synagogue

Join other parents with babies under 1 year to schmooze, coo and commiserate! They will have age-appropriate toys for the little ones and Gabrielle Felman (MSed, LMSW) on hand for any questions on your mind! Once a month on Sundays at 9:15-10:15 am at Brooklyn Heights Synagogue on Remsen Street. More information here or sign up for their mailing list here.

Xtend Barre Babies on Board @ Brooklyn Heights

You are loving this new mommy thing but are exhausted. overwhelmed and have cabin fever? No Sitter? Workout with your newborn. Xtend Barre Babies on Board is a challenging and safe mommy-and-me class that will get your body back on track. Class is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays 1.15 to 2.15 pm and Wednesdays 11 am to 12 pm. Babies must be min 6 weeks old and max 18 – 20 lb. Bring your own supportive baby carrier, grippy socks essential, strollers ok. Arrive early. Xtend Barre is located at 147 Remsen Street. MamaBear Yoga @ Area Yoga Brooklyn Heights

MamaBear Yoga is a one hour “mommy-and –me-style” yoga class for moms and their new babies, newborn through pre-crawl. A great way to meet other local new moms and get back in shape. Takes place on Fridays at 2.15 pm at Area Yoga on Montague Street. Schedule here.

Free Music Class @ FEED DUMBO

A free baby music class, coffee and conversations every first Sunday of the month at 9 am at FEED coffee shop in the Empire Stores in DUMBO.

Child’Space & Feldenkrais Method @ GUMBO

Tummy-Time Solutions, Rolling, Reaching and More Child’Space Method class for the youngest pre-crawling babies from 5 weeks to under 4 months on day 1 of the series. In this gentle, joyful class, parents learn to support their baby’s development through touch and movement. Parents learn answers to their questions about their baby’s development and also notice other positive changes in their babies after learning Child’Space Method, such as reduction of “colic”, improved ability to self-soothe, and improvements with feeding. Rumble Tumble class @ Dodge YMCA

Rumble Tumble Jr. Class is for ages 6 months and up with caregiver at the Y. This class will engage children and parents with flexibility and strength exercises through songs, ball play and obstacle courses. It’s a great way to start motor and sensory skills. The class is $155 for 8 weeks at the Y on Atlantic Avenue. Sign-up here.
