CSA deliveries, online shops of local farms and new guidelines for farmers markets

For families in the Brooklyn area looking for a grocery delivery alternative, Pepper Pantry is a new online ordering platform where consumers can purchase essential food and home supplies from local farms and specialty wholesalers in the Greater New York area who are struggling to stay afloat during the outbreak of COVID-19. Free, next-day deliveries are available and you can get $5 off your first order by entering the code BROOKLYNBRIDGE5 at checkout.

CSA’s

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) brings together farmers and people in neighboring communities into a direct, mutually beneficial relationship. CSA farms provide sun-ripened, freshly picked, sustainably grown produce to CSA members via weekly delivery to a central neighborhood location. In return, the CSA community provides its farmers with a reliable and steady market throughout the season, regardless of natural fluctuations in harvest yields. In light of Corona, farmers have taken precautions both on the farm and off, and some CSAs will move forward. Providers have figured out how to make most of the locations self-service so no one is touching the bags or vegetables off the farm.
